Christina is a junior at OCU who is majoring in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry. She is currently serving as the 2014 chapter president and has previously served two terms as chapter secretary. She is also currently serving as the regional secretary for BBB's South Central Region, which encompasses more than 20 chapters. She was recently honored with the John C. Johnson Award for Excellence in Student Research at the 2013 BBB South Central Regional Convention, and will be presenting her award winning research at the 2014 BBB National Convention.
Christina is a scholar-athlete, as the varsity coxswain of OCU's Women's Rowing Team. She is also a member of OCU's honors program, Gamma Phi Beta Sorority, Phi Kappa Epsilon Undergraduate Honor Society, and Blue Key Honor Society.
Christina is passionate about scientific research and intends to pursue a PhD in biomedical research after graduating from OCU. In 2012, she was selected as a Sir Alexander Fleming Scholar by Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and spent 8 weeks conducting research in Dr. Dean Dawson's Cell Cycle and Cancer Biology lab. In 2013, she was chosen to participate in the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center's Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE). After the 9 week internship in Dr. William Hildebrand's Microbiology and Immunology lab, she was hired to continue her research project for an additional month before returning to OCU for the Fall 2013 semester.
